The Customer
Motorola, Inc., a pioneer
in the world of wireless telecom, develops various types of
Base Transceiver station for dispatch and other applications.
Its successful iDEN line of stations and its widely
accepted Astro trunked and conventional systems are
highly popular in the industry for their reliability, quality
and proven track record.
The Problem
In their effort to ensure the quality and timely delivery
of the firmware for these stations, Motorola enlisted the
help of SSI. Working with the software team at Motorola, SSI
helped rapidly develop high quality software for the Astro
and iDEN stations. The ability of SSI Software Engineers
to ramp-up familiarity with the Motorola's products and requirements
were crucial to the successful development of these stations.
The SSI Solution
SSI software engineers were involved in the development of
Controller and Test Application software for the iDEN
and Astro stations. They also played an essential role
in the enhancement of firmware of Quanter Exciters that are
used in Motorola's Smartzone radio communication systems.
The high reliability of the iDEN stations were proven
in a time of crisis, during the tragic events at the World
Trade Center, when they withstood enormous call volume and
remained reliable and operational, while other modes of communication
buckled under the pressure.
With the aid of SSI's development team, Motorola was able
to deliver a product of high quality and reliability in a
very short time. As a testimony to SSI's outstanding involvement
in these projects, Motorola continues to use SSI's expertise
in their development of these, and other wireless products.
